The Brief

To mark Singapore's SG60 Diamond Jubilee, NTUC commissioned Get Out! Events to produce a large-scale solidarity walk for 5,000 union members and their families along the iconic Marina Bay waterfront. The event needed to feel both celebratory and meaningful — capturing the spirit of SG60 while reinforcing NTUC's mission of unity and solidarity.

Key requirements: a clean 3-km route along public waterfront spaces, a pre-walk rally with leaders' speeches and cultural performances, structured assembly and dispersal for 5,000 participants, and a strong SG60 visual identity throughout.

The Challenge

  • Public space logistics: Marina Bay is a heavily trafficked public space. Coordinating 5,000 participants required complex liaison with NParks, LTA, and Singapore Police Force for permits and crowd management.
  • Participant diversity: NTUC's membership spans all ages, physical abilities, and union sectors — the walk route and pace needed to be accessible and inclusive for participants from young adults to seniors.
  • Weather contingency: August is prime monsoon season. A full weather contingency plan — including partial rerouting, shelter allocation, and programme compression — had to be prepared for same-day execution.
  • Live streaming requirement: The rally segment needed to be live-streamed for 2,000+ additional members who could not attend physically.

Our Solution

Route design: We worked with LTA and NParks over 8 weeks to design a 3-km route that avoided peak-hour traffic zones while showcasing iconic Marina Bay landmarks. Colour-coded participant groups with staggered start times ensured the route never felt overcrowded.

Accessibility planning: A dedicated accessible route (1.5 km, flat surface) was mapped for seniors and participants with mobility needs, with dedicated marshals and first aid stations every 500 metres along both routes.

Weather day-of: Light rain fell during the pre-walk rally. We deployed 500 branded ponchos from a pre-positioned tent within 12 minutes, the programme was compressed by 8 minutes, and the walk proceeded on the original route. Zero cancellations.

Live stream: A 4-camera live production team handled the rally stage stream, pushed to YouTube Live and NTUC's Facebook simultaneously. Peak concurrent viewers: 3,200.

The Outcome

5,000 participants completed the solidarity walk
3,200 peak live stream viewers for the rally programme
Zero incidents or safety events despite rain conditions
8 wks permit and logistics lead time from brief to event

"Get Out! Events managed one of our most complex National Day events with absolute professionalism. 5,000 participants, public routes, live broadcast — everything ran smoothly. They'll be our first call for our SG65 event."
