What is a digital scavenger hunt and how does it work for team building in Singapore?

A digital scavenger hunt sends corporate teams on GPS-tracked missions across Singapore — completing photo challenges, answering location trivia, and competing for points on a live leaderboard. Everything runs through a mobile browser (no app download). Teams earn points by completing tasks in real time; a leaderboard on the projector screen tracks the race as it unfolds. Get Out Events designs every mission from scratch — GPS checkpoints, photo tasks, video challenges — tailored to your venue, theme, and team size.

What Is a Digital Scavenger Hunt?

A digital scavenger hunt sends teams on GPS-tracked missions across Singapore landmarks — completing photo challenges, solving location-based clues, and competing for points on a live leaderboard. Everything runs through our mobile platform: no paper, no printouts, no manual scoring. Teams get real-time feedback as they complete tasks; organisers watch the race unfold from an admin station.

Our digital scavenger hunt is built for corporate team building in Singapore. It works across the Marina Bay precinct, Sentosa, Chinatown, Clarke Quay, Gardens by the Bay, and any custom venue you choose — or across your entire office campus. Groups of 20 to 500 can run simultaneously.

How the Platform Works

Participant View — Missions on Mobile

Each team accesses the hunt through a mobile web interface — no app download required. Teams see their active mission list, a map showing checkpoints, and a live countdown for time-limited challenges. As they complete tasks — submitting a photo, answering a location trivia question, recording a short video — points are added to their score in real time. The interface is simple enough for anyone to use; teams spend their time competing, not troubleshooting.

Missions are fully customisable: GPS-based waypoints, photo submission tasks, creative challenges, trivia rounds, team-vs-team scoring, and timed bonuses. We design every hunt from scratch — your landmarks, your theme, your teams.

Live Leaderboard — Real-Time on the Big Screen

A dedicated leaderboard display runs on a projector or large screen at your venue hub. It updates live as teams complete missions — showing team names, scores, position changes, and recent activity. Watching the leaderboard flip during a sprint finish is half the entertainment. The display is clean, large-format, and readable from across a ballroom.

For events with multiple rounds or halftime breaks, the leaderboard can be frozen at intervals for a live reveal. Highlight reels of team photo submissions can be shown on the same screen.

Admin Station Setup — Full Operational Control

The hunt organiser operates from an admin station: a dedicated dashboard giving live visibility of every team's progress, location, and submission status. From here you can approve or reject photo submissions, add bonus points, push announcements to all teams, pause or extend the hunt, and monitor whether any team has gone dark.

No technical expertise required — the admin interface is designed to be operated by an event facilitator, not a developer. Our team sets it up, briefs your point-of-contact, and stays available throughout the event.

What Types of Missions Are Available?

  • GPS Checkpoint Missions — Teams must physically reach a GPS-pinned location (a Singapore landmark, a specific spot in your venue) before unlocking the next task. Great for creating movement and navigation challenges.
  • Photo Challenge Tasks — Teams photograph themselves completing a challenge at a location: recreating a famous pose, finding a hidden symbol, capturing a specific scene. Photos are submitted for live review and displayed in the highlight feed.
  • Video Challenges — Short creative video submissions — a 15-second team intro, a TikTok-style challenge, a lip-sync at a landmark. Encourages creativity and generates content your team will actually want to share.
  • Trivia & Knowledge Rounds — Location-specific questions about Singapore history, culture, or your company. Unlocked when teams reach a checkpoint, answered directly in the app.
  • Team vs Team Scoring — Assign teams to competing houses or departments. Score multipliers for speed, bonus points for creative submissions, and head-to-head checkpoint races. The competitive angle works especially well for sales teams or new-hire cohorts.
  • Timed Bonus Windows — Push a surprise challenge to all teams simultaneously. First team to submit a valid response gets the bonus. Creates unpredictable moments that change the leaderboard in seconds.

Popular Routes Across Singapore

We've run digital scavenger hunts across every major Singapore precinct. Most popular configurations:

  • Marina Bay Loop — Helix Bridge to Gardens by the Bay Supertrees to Merlion Park. Iconic landmarks, strong photo opportunities, easy navigation.
  • Chinatown & Tanjong Pagar — Cultural heritage trail through shophouses, temples, and hawker centres. Works well for D&I-themed events and cultural learning objectives.
  • Sentosa Island Circuit — Beach, Universal Studios perimeter, Fort Siloso. Half-day or full-day format. Great for large groups and mixed physical activity levels.
  • Clarke Quay / Robertson Quay — Urban riverside route. Works for afternoon or evening formats, and connects naturally to a post-hunt dinner venue.
  • Office Campus Hunt — For indoor or campus-based events. Missions are designed around your specific building, floors, and meeting rooms. Works for new-hire onboarding and cross-department mixing.
  • Custom Route — You choose the locations that matter to your team. We design the missions around them.

How We Set It Up

  1. Route Design & Mission Briefing — We consult on your preferred locations, themes, and team objectives. We design every mission from scratch: no generic templates. You review and approve the mission list before the event.
  2. Platform Configuration — We configure the hunt on the platform: GPS coordinates, scoring weights, photo review settings, leaderboard display, admin access. Fully tested before event day.
  3. On-Day Setup — Our team sets up the admin station and leaderboard display at your venue hub. We brief team leaders on the platform (takes under 5 minutes). Participants access the hunt via QR code — no installation, no friction.
  4. Live Facilitation — A facilitator monitors the admin dashboard throughout. Photo submissions are reviewed in real time, announcements pushed as needed, and energy kept high with commentary on the leaderboard screen.
  5. Results & Debrief — Final scores are locked and revealed on the leaderboard. Photo highlights shown on screen. Winners announced. We handle the ceremony; you hand out the prizes.

How Many Teams Can Run at Once?

Our platform is tested for up to 80 simultaneous teams, which covers groups of up to 500 participants running in teams of 6. For very large events — 500 to 1,000 participants — we split into heats with rolling start times. We've run digital scavenger hunts for audiences of 800 in a single session.

Frequently Asked Questions — Digital Scavenger Hunt Singapore

Do participants need to download an app?

No. The hunt runs entirely in a mobile browser. Participants access it by scanning a QR code — no installation, no account creation, no friction at the start of your event.

What happens if a team's phone dies during the hunt?

Teams can continue on any team member's phone — all progress is saved to their team code, not the device. If a phone battery runs out, another team member's phone picks up where they left off.

Can we customise the mission themes for our company?

Yes. We design every mission from scratch. If you want missions themed around your company values, your products, Singapore history, or a custom narrative — we build it. We've run missions themed around client pitches, brand launches, and annual company milestones.

What if it rains?

For outdoor city routes, we monitor the weather forecast and have a rain contingency plan for every event. Options include: shifting to an indoor venue, compressing the route, or switching to a hybrid indoor-outdoor format. We've run hunts in light rain before — teams usually enjoy it. We never cancel an event without offering an alternative.

How long does a digital scavenger hunt run?

Most hunts run for 60 to 90 minutes of active mission time, plus 15–20 minutes for briefing and 15 minutes for the leaderboard reveal and debrief. A typical half-day format is 3 hours total. For full-day programmes, we integrate the hunt into a broader event schedule.

Is the digital scavenger hunt suitable for large groups?

Yes. Our platform handles up to 80 simultaneous teams (roughly 500 participants). For groups above 500, we use a multi-heat format. The largest single-session event we've run had 800 participants across 120 teams.

Can we see a demo of the platform before booking?

Yes. As part of the proposal process, we provide a walkthrough of both the participant interface and the admin dashboard. Get in touch to schedule a demo call.

Expert Insight

"What makes a digital scavenger hunt more effective than a traditional one for corporate groups?"

The live leaderboard. In a traditional hunt, teams disappear for 90 minutes and you reconvene at the end to find out who won. With a digital platform, the leaderboard is updating every few minutes on the big screen — so the whole group can see who's ahead, who just jumped three places, and who's about to catch up. That shared experience, watching it happen in real time, is what drives energy and genuine competition. The missions are just the mechanics. The leaderboard is the game.
