For creating dynamic and engaging events, GO Events, a leading corporate event organiser in Singapore, knows how to bring the perfect balance of adventure and celebration. For KFC Singapore’s Year-End Party, we crafted an exciting full-day experience that seamlessly blended team-building challenges with evening festivities. The result was a truly unforgettable event filled with laughter, camaraderie, and memories that brought approximately 150 KFC team members together for a day they would not soon forget.

The concept was ambitious: a morning of high-energy outdoor team building followed by an elegant, Olympics-themed Dinner & Dance in the evening. Two distinct events, two different venues, one seamless experience. This dual-format approach is one of the most demanding event structures to execute, and one of the most rewarding when it comes together perfectly.

The Brief — What KFC Needed

KFC Singapore approached GO Events to design and execute their annual year-end celebration — an event that needed to serve dual purposes: team building and celebration. The specific objectives included:

Meaningful team bonding: KFC wanted the day to start with an activity that would genuinely bring people together. This was not a box-ticking exercise. They wanted authentic team bonding that would build relationships across departments and store locations. The morning activity needed to be engaging enough to generate real connections while remaining inclusive for participants of varying fitness levels.

Cultural and heritage integration: Singapore’s heritage and cultural diversity were important to the client. They wanted the team-building component to incorporate elements of local culture, giving participants — some of whom had diverse backgrounds — a shared experience rooted in Singapore’s identity.

A celebratory evening with impact: The evening D&D needed to feel like a genuine celebration, not a corporate obligation. KFC wanted a themed dinner that would surprise and delight guests, with entertainment and production values that matched the energy of the morning activities.

Seamless day-to-night transition: Perhaps the most challenging requirement was the transition between the two halves of the day. Participants needed sufficient downtime to rest and change, but the overall programme needed to maintain momentum and excitement from morning through to the evening finale.

Our Approach — Designing a Day of Adventure and Celebration

Our creative team developed a two-part concept that was united by a single thread: competitive spirit. The morning Amazing Race would channel that energy through physical and mental challenges, while the evening D&D would celebrate it through an Olympics-inspired theme that tied the day together narratively.

For the Amazing Race, we designed a customised route across various Singapore locations, with each station offering a different type of challenge — from heritage trivia to physical tasks to creative team activities. The variety was intentional: it ensured every team member could contribute their strengths, whether those were intellectual, athletic, or creative.

For the D&D, we developed the Olympics theme with KFC’s brand identity woven throughout. The sports-inspired concept provided a natural connection to the day’s competitive energy while allowing us to create a visually striking evening environment in KFC’s signature red and white. The décor was designed to be minimalist yet impactful — bold lines, dynamic lighting, and sports iconography that transformed the ballroom without overwhelming the space.

The afternoon bridge between the two events was carefully planned to give participants time to rest, freshen up, and build anticipation for the evening. This transition period is often an afterthought in day-to-night events, but we treated it as a critical design element, ensuring participants arrived at the D&D feeling refreshed and excited rather than fatigued.

Execution Highlights

Morning: The Amazing Race Across Singapore

The day kicked off with a customised Amazing Race designed to foster teamwork, strategic thinking, and friendly competition. Participants were divided into teams and tasked with completing challenges at various activity stations across Singapore. Each challenge was carefully curated to incorporate elements of Singapore’s cultural heritage, adding depth and meaning to what could have been a purely physical activity.

The race began with a Team Spirit Rally, where participants designed team flags, logos, and cheers — establishing team identity and creating friendly rivalries before the race even started. This creative warm-up was key to breaking the ice and building the collaborative energy that would carry teams through the rest of the morning.

Challenge stations were spread across multiple locations, each offering a distinct experience. Heritage and culture-focused stations had teams exploring iconic landmarks and engaging with Singapore’s rich history through puzzles, trivia challenges, and observational tasks. Physical challenges included traditional games like chapteh and tug of war — activities that levelled the playing field and generated genuine excitement regardless of participants’ usual job roles. Strategic puzzles like tangram challenges tested teams’ problem-solving abilities under time pressure, requiring clear communication and collaborative thinking.

The race culminated in a thrilling Capture the Flag finale, where teams strategised to defend their own flags while attempting to capture others’. The atmosphere was electric as participants cheered, collaborated, and celebrated their victories. This high-energy conclusion brought all teams back together, ensuring the morning ended on a collective high note rather than fading out gradually.

Our facilitation team managed the entire race operation, including station coordination, timing, scoring, and safety monitoring. With approximately 150 participants moving across multiple outdoor locations, real-time communication between facilitators was essential, and our crew delivered seamless coordination throughout.

Afternoon: Recharge and Transition

After the race, attendees took time to recharge and network over a delightful spread of snacks and drinks. This downtime was intentionally designed, not as dead time, but as a decompression zone where participants could reflect on the morning’s excitement, share stories from the race, and connect with colleagues in a relaxed setting.

The transition period also built anticipation for the evening. Teaser content about the D&D theme was shared, encouraging participants to prepare for the Olympics-inspired celebration ahead. This narrative bridge ensured the two halves of the day felt connected rather than disconnected.

Evening: Olympics-Themed Dinner and Dance

As the sun set, the event transitioned into a dazzling Dinner and Dance celebration. The hotel ballroom was transformed with minimalist yet striking décor inspired by the spirit of the Olympics, rendered in KFC’s signature red and white. The design was intentionally bold and clean — geometric patterns, dynamic lighting, and sports iconography created a visually powerful space without cluttering the ballroom.

The night began with an electrifying opening performance featuring basketball, badminton, and gymnastics routines — a sports-themed show that set a vibrant, high-energy tone for the evening and immediately connected the D&D back to the day’s competitive spirit. The performance was choreographed to build from individual skill showcases to a collaborative finale, mirroring the team-building journey of the morning.

Throughout the evening, guests enjoyed thematic game booths and interactive entertainment, including the event’s standout attraction: a 180 Freeze Frame photobooth. This multi-camera setup captured participants in mid-action from multiple angles, creating dynamic, shareable content that became one of the evening’s most talked-about experiences. The freeze frame concept tied perfectly to the sports theme, with guests striking athletic poses and celebration stances.

A professional emcee hosted the evening, keeping the energy high and the programme running smoothly. The programme balanced dining with entertainment, awards, and interactive segments, including lucky draws and contests that rewarded participants with coveted prizes, adding an extra layer of excitement to the night. The dinner menu was thoughtfully curated to cater to diverse tastes, ensuring every guest enjoyed a delectable dining experience.

Production and AV

The evening’s AV production was designed to deliver a polished, immersive experience. The LED wall and sound system provided the technical backbone for the opening performance, emcee segments, video montages, and prize announcement moments. Custom visual content, including animated graphics, participant highlights from the morning’s Amazing Race, and Olympics-themed transitions — was displayed throughout the programme, creating a cohesive visual narrative that connected the entire day.

Lighting was a particularly important element. The design shifted between warm, ambient tones during dinner and dynamic, colour-saturated effects during entertainment and dance segments, creating distinct moods within the same space and keeping the sensory experience fresh throughout the multi-hour programme.

Challenges and How We Overcame Them

Managing a complex day-to-night dual-venue event: Operating two distinct events in a single day — an outdoor Amazing Race across multiple locations followed by an indoor D&D at a hotel ballroom — required two complete event setups running in parallel. Our team split into dedicated crews: one managing the morning’s race operations and logistics, the other overseeing the ballroom setup and evening programme preparation. Clear communication and a detailed master timeline ensured both halves came together seamlessly.

Maintaining energy across a full-day programme: Participant fatigue is the biggest risk in day-to-night events. We addressed this through deliberate programme design: high energy in the morning, a genuine rest period in the afternoon, and a fresh burst of excitement at the D&D. The Olympics theme provided narrative continuity — participants felt the evening was a natural extension of the day, not a separate event they were obligated to attend.

Weather contingency for outdoor activities: With 150 participants in outdoor locations for the Amazing Race, weather was a significant risk factor. We developed contingency routes and backup indoor locations for each challenge station, along with a modified programme that could compress the race timeline if needed. Our advance weather monitoring and flexible facilitator deployment ensured we were prepared for any conditions.

The Outcome

KFC’s Year-End Party was a standout success that demonstrated the power of a well-designed dual-format event. The day achieved its objectives across both halves:

Authentic team bonding: The Amazing Race generated genuine connections between participants. Teams that formed in the morning carried their energy and camaraderie into the evening, creating a more connected, celebratory atmosphere at the D&D than a standalone dinner event could have achieved.

Full engagement from start to finish: Participant energy remained high throughout the day — from the morning flag-off to the final dance number. The deliberate afternoon transition period and the narrative connection between the two events ensured there was no drop-off in enthusiasm.

A celebration that resonated: The Olympics theme was universally popular, providing a fun, inclusive framework that everyone could engage with. The 180 Freeze Frame photobooth generated significant social sharing, extending the event’s impact beyond the evening itself.

The success of KFC’s event lay in its ability to deliver a holistic experience. By combining a high-energy Amazing Race with a sophisticated evening celebration, we created an event that resonated with attendees on multiple levels — physically, socially, and emotionally. For GO Events, it was a proud demonstration of our capability in designing and executing complex, multi-format corporate events that truly bring teams together.
